This retreat explores the idea that exhaustion has become a status symbol in our society and that working at 200% is something we need to strive for. On this day retreat we invite you to work less, to relax more, to learn a little more and to bring in more long-term health, better nutrition, and a simple daily exercise routine to your life, BEFORE you fall off the edge and succumb to adrenal fatigue.
Know nothing about adrenal fatigue? Well this retreat is for you! It will teach you how to value your body both inside and out. You’ll learn;
- The perfect diet to support your body when your adrenals are over stressed.
- Meditation- we’ll start easy on you, with a 10 minute session.
- Yoga moves that are gentle yet challenging to release blocks in your body and bring it back into balance.
- Proper breathing.
- Stress relief techniques you can do in 5 minutes.

Symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue
Overuse of stimulants, lack of sleep, poor diet, lack of exercise, stress, and other lifestyle factors can cause our adrenal glands to malfunction so that inadequate quantities of hormones are produced, causing us to feel worn out and setting the scene for all kinds of health issues.
Caffeine, stimulants, sugar and just trying to keep up don’t work when you find yourself in adrenal overdrive. Proper nutrition, appropriate supplements and restorative rest are crucial to the process of recovery.

Proper Nutrition
At The Clever Kitchen we know all about supporting the body to be healthy with good nutrition and the correct nutrition for you and any condition you may have.
During your retreat Susan our licensed nutritionist will host a workshop about the right foods and natural supplements to eat, and importantly when to eat them, to fuel your recovery from adrenal fatigue.
You will eat a healthy lunch devised by us, using local seasonal foods where possible, with the addition of superfoods and supplements we recommend. You are not detoxing on this retreat so you will be able to drink some alcohol and coffee.
We can adapt the menu to cater for you if you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant or have other dietary requirements.
Restorative Rest
Are you a gym junkie? Do you think you need to work out more to feel better? Perhaps your body really needs some restorative rest to make it feel healthy again. Gentle exercise, and mindfulness is needed more than cardio…
You will enjoy a 90 minute Yogafusion class, fusing traditional yoga poses with movements from Qigong and Pilates, and ending with a 10 minute meditation.
Introducing
Shibashi Qigong
Qigong is the art and practice of moving energy, or qi, through the body. It has, among other benefits, the powerful effect of healing the bodily systems. Qigong benefits the stimulation of energy pathways, called meridians, which balance out and strengthen the modern day stressed-out body.
By stimulating the meridians, your body comes back into alignment and regains its natural ability to heal efficiently. This allows the body to overcome certain prevailing alignments that could not be overcome in the previous state of misalignment or stress.
A short meditation will feature as part of these classes- do not worry if you have never practised yoga or meditation before- you will be gently guided by your teacher, who can instruct at all levels.
Your spare time in the afternoon is yours to do as you wish, however we suggest you enjoy the magical surroundings of the hotel and its fabulous spa.
