Pumpkin Seeds

Description
Although the pumpkin is normally thought of as a vegetable, it is actually a fruit. Removing the white hull of its seeds reveals the edible green seed inside.

Nutritional Benefits
Pumpkin seeds are a great source of energy, protein and healthy fats. They are also packed with many vitamins, minerals and health-promoting antioxidants. Pumpkin seeds contain iron, zinc, potassium, magnesium and manganese. They are also an excellent source of tryptophan – the precursor to serotonin (the feel good hormone) and melatonin (nature’s sleeping pill). In addition they are a good source of glutamate – needed to make GABA (the anti-stress brain chemical). New research suggests that the DHEA in pumpkin seeds may protect against ovarian and prostrate cancers.
